*Rather than the familiar woman's, a man's voice comes online. He has a cool, upper-coruscaunti accent, and has the same tone in his voice as if he hasn't been sleeping that night. Various machines buzz and whirr in the background- the background noise from the control-room in the White Thunder Sactuary. He's quiet, as if trying not to wake someone.*
Though we both lead dangerous lives, it is difficult to imagine that the woman who's fallen asleep in the chair beside me, with our two young children on her knees, was almost taken from us today. It was not the Imperials, or the bounty hunters, or the criminals; it was an enemy within her mind. One we have known of for quite some time now, but have been unable to ever entirely defeat. I know.. that she would not want to relate this story herself again.. However, I also know that she would want some record of her ordeal to exist, should something ever happen.
For as long as I have known her, she has had nightmares... hallucinations.. odd perceptions of some voice speaking in her ear. Not one night has she slept peacefully. Not one day has she gone without needing to make a consious effort to shut out this voice. Though she has tried every way she can think of to mask this struggle from others, I have often sensed the conflict within her. It took nothing short of a prophecy of doom to get her to seek help from another, and even then, she could not do so in a way that fully prepared them for the battle that was to come.
Master Muaarga Hillwalker, an old Jedi from the days of the republic who seems to have escaped the folly of the order, is the one who has been recieving these visions. It appears Nyx-Warda has already told the story regarding his involvement with the rescue party from Club Sullustian, and his vision on the starship. Subesquently, he went missing on Lok in a strange place, and when he was found, he had no recollection of what had happened from the point where he lost contact with Nyx-Warda. As he attempted to see into his past, he recieved a second, more vivid vision which he would not tell her until they were here at the complex.
The vision was of yet another dark future- one in which she has turned against White Thunder and is destroying everything.... *He pauses, thinking of what that means, but not saying. He continues stiffly.*No doubt she will listen to this later, and not want to hear it again. You can use your imagination. At this point, it is not ignorance to leave this accursed vision unsaid, but mercy on someone who need not hear twice what she already knows. For these purposes, it will suffice to say, that she was too powerful to be stopped. I do not hold it against Master Muaarga for telling her what he saw, though I question his wisdom in doing so near such a particularly high ledge. It was upsetting to her. So upsetting that she could not keep control of her emotions and the Enemy that preys on her at once. It was a dangerous combination, and she tells me she could feel herself being consumed by the darkness within her, and losing control of herself. Let us suffice to say.. that she would rather have died.. than to become what she felt herself becoming.
*There is another pause before he continues, and resumes his previous tone.*
At that time, I was in another system. I felt the rift in the force, and had a vision of my own. I rushed to my ship, and set off quickly for the base, praying that it wasn't true. Then a peculiar thing happened.. a voice.. like Nyx-Warda's, but not belonging to her.. said to me through the force "Don't worry. She's being taken care of. But go to her still- she needs you." Whether that meant she would find peace in the next life, or she would be saved in this one, I didn't know. Nevertheless I landed as quickly as I could, and found them on the balcony of the Sactuary looking more dead than alive. It seems that Master Muaarga had saved her, and warded off the Enemy with a blinding light that nearly completely drained him. In return, she had used what strength she could gather when she recovered herself to attempt to return some of his depleted energy. The result was a scene in which both looked in terrible shape, though Flynt's medical scans could detect nothing other than a distinct lack of energy. They needed rest. Master Muaarga fell into a meditative trance, and Nyx-Warda fell alseep here soon after while getting the younglings to sleep. I'm constantly keeping an eye on her, but so far there are no nightmares tonight. Just a quiet, dreamless sleep.
*His hand brushes the recorder, as if to turn it off, but he stops and brings it closer to him. He speaks low into the mic with concern in his voice. There is a bit of interferance in the last part of this recording, as if it has been replayed several times.*
Nyx-Warda... when you hear this recording, and no doubt you will, I want you to hear this. I know you. I know you will want to handle these issues on your own, and that you might be lead to shut out even the few you trust. Don't do it. You cannot be strong all the time. Those who care about you will be strong where you are weak. Listen to their advice, and let them guide you. They are here for you... I.. am here for you. Remember I was falling once, too, and it was not my own determination that saved me, but that of someone who loved me. I love you, and I will do everything in my power to help you find peace. Be it in this world... or if need be.... the next.
