*She whispers in a low voice to the comm.link as she speaks. Small sounds of soft breathing can be heard close to her, as it seems two young children are asleep in her arms. There is much rustling and arranging before anything is actually said. Some faint interferance, as if from an excess of energy, can be heard at odd points before everything is settled.*
Well it seems I'm trapped here, *...and you can practically hear the smirk on her lips.* so I fugure I should catch up while I have a chance. Today has been... interesting. Old friends, new friends, and allies who play like enemies are leading me in all seperate directions, but I'll be damned if I follow. I don't expect anyone to really understand why I don't listen, but I still find myself trying to explain to some of them.. kriffin hell. Though it's interesting to see their reactions, I have to admit, it's a cold reminder of why I don't try to get close to people.
Hmm.. I'd much rather go out for a cup of tea. So I did! On my way there, I met... or rather Jewels, my peko peko, met... a nice ex-cop who travelled by peko-peko as well. Jewels followed his pet.. stars knows where.. and the two of us made small-talk down on the ground. *Sigh* Ahh, but my troubled followed me there anyway. Thode decided it would be fun to try to run me over with his speeder. I would have paid it no mind, except he clipped my buddy there, too. Luckily, clipped is as bad as it got, and the two of us made our way to the cantina anyway. I might have chased Thode, but I was on foot, and Jewels would not come when I called her. So much for that then.. so off to have that cup of tea, I followed a much more friendly fellow.
There were a few moments of peace, as we were able to get to talking a bit. It seems the man was fortunate enough to land a job fighting paperwork instead of spice-feinds. That is; he's a beurocrat. Not a bad sort, though he does work for the Empire. It's not the same as if he were a combatant. I regret I didn't learn more about him, but once again, I was pulled away.
*Quietly, she lets out a rough and ironic chuckle.*
It was about at that moment when Thode walked into the cantina. He made sure I heard him speak into his Comm. about reporting "jedi activitity". He was obviously baiting me, but I figured I was at least getting his attention. By then I was pretty curious about why I was the object of his unfriendly attention.... and how far he would go. What can I say? I'm the sort who likes to know what I'm up against. I obviously couldn't ask him as a friend, but I expect I can drag it from him as an "enemy". Note that, in this case, I use that word loosely. We are, after all, technically on the same side.
So I go up to talk to him. He has these people there with him, so I refer to him as "Master" Thode. Anyway, I bring up his little stunt with the speeder, and as I do it, Zan.. eh.. comes to my rescue I guess? ..saying that "A lot of accidents can happen in a cantina". *sigh* Thanks Zan. Anyway, he offered five-million credits to anyone who can remove us from his sight. Zan played along with one of them.. I know he wouldn't give that easy without a fight. I stayed, and held out for the five-million. Enter bitchfest part II as we got into it again. This time he had thugs on his side. I guess the turrets in Club Doros were malfunctioning that day, because shit got pretty rough before it got better. True, I could have just walked away, but again, I had to know what I was up against. Turns out he wasn't above actiually paying the five-mil to have his goon throw me over the ledge out of his booth, but he wasn't so intent on actually getting me out of the cantina, or for that matter, finishing me off. Well I take that as a good sign so far.
Ri came into the cantina amid the chaos, and was nice enough to communicate to me a little lecture. Well that just beat all. She left me because she wanted to be a proper jedi... well... I say this is her rite of passage in that respect. Take the good with the bad when I say she conducted herself just like a jedi. It was short, though, scince she became distracted as a pregnant woman who was with Thode began going into early labor. I was worried, of course, but I am no healer, and I am not her friend. I hadn't the means to do anything, and I wasn't welcome among her own, but I still couldn't breathe until I heard everything was all right. It hit me as a mother myself, I suppose.
*She is quiet for a moment before she continues.*
I wandered around for a bit afterward, trying to call Jewels again. No luck. It felt late, so I went back to the cantina to hang out for a bit with Zan and Dr. Nast, and to spy on Ri. Spying on Ri turned into chasing her down after her friend left, and inevitably visiting her at her home, the four of us. We were able to catch up for a bit, and it seems there's been a lot on her mind lately. Mr. Bel-Havok apperantly gave her an ultimatum to cut all ties with her evil-governer-pappa or get out of the city. Well... it seems he has a habit of following her, so she was, in a sense, forced to leave. She didn't say a word, then, about the Governer's illness.
Later, Dru visited as well, and Zan and the Doctor left us three to catch up. Things went well until Thode was brought up again. It was as if a child had just woken up, and remembered he was crying about being tired. Ri and I picked up where we left off. Poor Dru, probably had a poor first impression of our relationship. I beleive she saw it as more of an argument, but I suppose I can't see it that way. Ri and I arguing.. just seems so out of place. Nevertheless, she tried again to tell me my place, and I found myself trying to explain myself. Had it been someone else, I would have just told him "Kriff off, I have my reasons." and left it at that, but I like Ri, so I figure she deserves to be reasoned with.
Maybe she didn't understand, or maybe she was just to frustrated to deal with it, but nothing really got resolved that night. She tried to compare the situation to what happened with her and Keal. Well.. I have my own thoughts on him, biut those are to be saved for later. For now, it will suffice to say this is a different situation, these are different people, and it all calls for a different course of action. I made no comment on the matter, however, because the subject quickly changed to how she's dealing with the Governer's illness.
I had said nothing, and continued to say nothing as she went on, but she and Dru talked about it. Perhaps that's why she's been so moody.. Any other night I would have tried to comfort her, but that same feeling of being an unwelcome presence came over me. What can be helped? I left, asking Dru to take care of her. After all, to Ri, she is a friend, and I am... well... I am not sure what I am. I know at least that I'm not her favorite person right now, so I spared her of me and went on to run some much-niglected errands on Naboo.

I have to remember to note that I learned something.. eh.. noteworthy... today. Thode's wife is J'ao, the woman I met at Star's End during the sandstorm. Her shop has scince disappeared. Has she disappeared? Could she be around Star's End? What the hell did she ever see in Thode? No.. sticking to the right mysteries here. Shame. I like J'ao. That'd be too bad if something happened to her. Perhaps I should take on a.. personal project.. and try to find out what's happened.
