.....and so it never rains, but it pours.
*Her voice is the quiet and focused, though once in a while it breaks. There's an air about it as if it's pulling together the disconnected pieces of an army in her mind to gear up for one more battle.*
Dosni was not the only one taken prisoner, as it seems Diana has been captured on Tempestus. I fear, in her weakened state, that she may be driven to do or say things that will endanger Keren or White Thunder. Keren says she wouldn't betray us... but then he also tells me of her dubious attitude toward us. In either case, her capture itself is a danger, scince every one of us captured is another piece to the puzzle the Empire could put together. I pray that Keren is right, and there may be no inquisitor at all. Either way, we have to save her. Keren has been investigating with his unit. So far, I have not been able to interfere, but Honest John has prepared several shuttles in hidden places that he guarantees will take me swiftly wherever I need to go. I stand ready, should I be needed.
In the mean time, I deal with the matters I can.
As Keren continued his duties, I tried to carry out my own. The first step, after Dosni was secured last night, was to contact his master... my friend... Muaarga. I sent him a secure transmittion before I went to sleep yesterday, but when I awoke to find the message unanswered, I knew something was wrong. It wasn't like him... I worried something had happened. I attempted to send several transmittions, but none were answered. I couldn't understand. I had to find him.
My powers were weak, but I.. helped them.. with a brew I'd been saving for emergencies. For a while, I was at my full strength again, and then some. As I reached out across the galaxy with the force, I caught a glimpse of Muaarga somewhere with a sense about him that was all too familiar to me. Having seen it from myself too often, I'd be damned before I see it hang over him. Not when he had helped to save me. Not if there was anything I could do. I caught a glimpse, but that was all before my senses were overwhealmed with life. I was too far... but not too far to put two and two together.
I'd wager my wooden leg that he'd gone back to Kashyyyk. ....and so I did, and every other part to boot, when I travelled there to see if my hunch was right. Johnny took me there, standing by in the ship with a pod ready should I need to make a quick escape. It's been so long scince I've set foot on that planet... scince I had been exiled. I hung in the shadows at every turn, concealing my own presence while I hung on to any sense of Muaarga's I could reach, trying to find him. The sense was strongest about an old tree that had been hollowed out. At this point, I was sure I had found him, and didn't care if I was giving away my position to let him know I was there.
It was scary to find him there.. to listen to him say he had failed.. to hear him speak words that could come out of my mouth.... so I did my best to find some that sound like they might come out of his. If a friend is one who sings you your own song, well, I prayed I wouldn't go out of tune. When he told me he had gone because he knew about the carbonite, and did nothing to stop it, I tried to tell him that it was all right now- that the danger had passed, and his faith in those who did help me was not misplaced. I asked him to come back again.. warned him of the danger.. tried to tell him we needed him.
Somehow he was convinced to come back, if only to speak to some of the Ceterus in council. When we got back, he explained the situation, and asked forgiveness of the council for violating the tentant of non-ignorance, and permission to continue his duties. We agreed that if I could forgive him, being the one he thought he failed, that they could. Still, Lawrence gave him a reminder of the importance of the oath. After council was dismissed, Muaarga still wanted to talk about another concern with just Lawrence and I. Back in Virantis, he had promised to watch over the family if anything had happened. In this, he felt he had failed as well, so he wanted to make things right with us. After a bit, Lawrence wanted to speak to him in private. Shortly afterward, Muaarga went down to the library, and Lawrence went to his office. *sigh* I still don't know exactly what went on, but I plan to find out soon.
As I was leaving the temple, Keren came by in person. It seems they've hit a dead end in the investigation. They didn't get anything out of this supposed informant, I guess. He said he wanted to be with a friend before he went after Diana, but if I have anything to say about it, I'll be there while he does so. We talked for a while, but then.. well... I was reminded of why I save the red drink only for emergencies. I don't recall exactly when I spaced out, but I forgot where I was for a while and woke up a few hours later. Thankfully my attendant informed Keren of the situation, so he left a message saying we would meet up later. As a matter of fact, I should probably get going. Keren mentioned he had something he wanted me to see.
